On page 628, we stated that the Stones used both 760 and 7120 amplifiers. With the luxury of better photo reference, we have now been able to determine that what were at first thought to be 7120s are actually 760s. In some cases, the speaker cabinets were used with only the lower, rolling portions of the trolleys, which would have made them rather awkward. Additionally, likely to make them easier to actually roll on and off stage, mini-trolleys were used to support the speaker cabinets.

760s were also seen in photos of the Between The Buttons sessions.

Also during this period (September of 1966 — February of 1967), Bill Wyman tended to use an A.C.100 head with thick sides into an A.C.100 Bass cabinet.

During the fall 1966 tour of the U.K., Keith was photographed warming up backstage with an A.C.10 Twin. This later issue version had an SBU handle, corner protectors, and the silver Hammertone Elac 10N/85 speakers with the gold Vox stickers on them.

In March and April of 1967, The Stones went to the new Solid State amps. At the shows in Warsaw, Paris, and Milan, Brian and Keith were photographed playing through Supremes with no trolleys (Keith's cab was laid on its side), and Bill played through a Solid State bass head (exact model unknown) through a 2 x 15" bass cabinet. This combination was not yet offered as a standard issue by Vox, so this was most likely a holdover from Bill's A.C.100 rig. Oddly, the head was placed on the floor and the speaker cabinet was set on its side.

During rehearsals at his home in Redlands in May of 1969, Keith was seen using one of the smaller Solid State bass amps (either a Dynamic or a Foundation), and an A.C.30. As we mentioned before, old habits die hard. (Continued on page 3).
